  5. The IRIX 6.5 Applications CD, November 1999, is a companion to IRIX 6.5.6.
  6. This CD contains the IRIX Desktop and various desktop applications.  It 
  7. replaces all previous IRIX 6.5 Applications CDs (June 1998, November 1998, 
  8. February 1999, May 1999, and August 1999).

  10. Application upgrades shipped with IRIX release are either Full images or 
  11. Overlays.  Updates to Full images are found on the Applications CD whereas 
  12. updated Overlays are found on the IRIX 6.5.6 Overlays, November 1999 CD. To 
  13. install the new versions of Overlay applications you must install IRIX 6.5.6.

  33.   * WebFORCE MediaBase clients are no longer available on this CD.

  36.   * Insignia's SoftWindows95 version 5.0 shipping on its own CD.
  37.   * We are no longer supporting the Xing Streamworks Player.
  38.   * We are no longer shipping MediaMail or MediaMail Pro.
  39.   * Indigo Magic Desktop Applications have been renamed IRIX Interactive 
  40.     Desktop Applications.

  42. Important Notes About the Products
  43. ----------------------------------
  44. Internet Junction:
  45. Installing Internet Junction requires the Internet Junction CD, an
  46. Applications CD, and an Overlay CD.  The Applications CD and Overlay CD
  47. must be from the same release.  In addition because of dependency issues
  48. you must first install sgsearch.sw.sgsearch on the Applications CD and the
  49. Overlays CD before installing Internet Junction.  Failure to do so will
  50. result in a confusing inst incompatability error.
  51.  
  52. CosmoPlayer:
  53. If you want to use CosmoPlayer 1.1 to view VRML worlds, do not use Netscape 
  54. 4.5 or 4.7. Netscape 4.07 works with CosmoPlayer 1.1; both Netscape 4.07 and 
  55. CosmoPlayer 1.1 are shipped on the IRIX Applications 6.5, February 1999 CD. 
  56. Netscape 4.5 or later requires CosmoPlayer 2.1, which was released with 
  57. IRIX 6.5.4, 6.5.5, and 6.5.6.

  59. Netscape Communicator Client:
  60. Netscape Communicator Client 4.7 is part of the default distribution
  61. on this CD. Customers who only use the browser functionality (and
  62. not the email, newsgroups, etc.) may prefer to install the Netscape
  63. Navigator Client (netscape_lite) 4.7. From Software Manager, open 
  64. /CDROM/dist/extras to install this product.
  65.  
  66. Netscape's FastTrack Personal Server:
  67. Netscape's FastTrack Personal Server on this CD will upgrade and replace 
  68. the original OutBox Webserver or previous versions of Netscape FastTrack 
  69. server.  Netscape Admin server is included in the Netscape FastTrack 3.03 
  70. product. You will not need to select the Netscape Admin server for 
  71. installation. Netscape FastTrack will work with OutBox and needs no special 
  72. configuration.

  74. Release Notes
  75. -------------
  76. If you choose to read the release notes for products before installing 
  77. new products, you can now view the release notes easily from Software Manager.  
  78. From the desktop Toolchest choose System, then Software Manager.  This
  79. will bring up the Software Manager window.  Choose to Customize Installation
  80. but typing /CDROM/dist into the Available Software box.  A list of products 
  81. available for installation will come up.  If the product name is highlighted 
  82. (similar to an HTML link) then there are Release Notes available.  Simply click on the link to bring up the Release Notes window.
